A big part of the appeal of both films is Pine and Quinto, both superbly cast in my opinion, and the action scenes, whilst dominating both films, are of a FAR better quality anything else that's ever had the Trek name. Both films have done well though, which may persuade the suits to green light another Trek series at some point, and hopefully that WILL be 'proper' Trek :PRetroKingSimonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05609689348601442117noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5455082771543433548.post-87696114438608097912014-02-10T13:55:11.861+00:002014-02-10T13:55:11.861+00:00I see you point and I agree...as an action flick i...I see you point and I agree...as an action flick it is a good one, had it not been Star Trek then I'd probably be liking it. But the fact its suppose to be Star Trek just doesn't sit well with me :/
They almost removed everything that Star Trek is about and replaced it with the something you'd half expect to see Wesley Snipes getting up to. And the stuff they did keep in that is pure Star Trek was just regurgitated from the classic original hehe.

It all just felt so cheap like a fast food cash grab with shiny effects. I do agree about...Cabbagepatch? Cumberpatch pie? whatever his name is, totally miscast, it felt like he was in a completely different action flick with his best Hans Gruber rip off sheesh!.

I guess I kinda felt a little bit cheated almost, an action flick (good one admittedly) with the Star Trek name slapped on it.Hubbshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04897344651758083589noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5455082771543433548.post-36021760939392883502014-02-09T11:29:09.162+00:002014-02-09T11:29:09.162+00:00Yeah, I know what you mean but I don't really ...Yeah, I know what you mean but I don't really think you can judge it based on what it's not. What it is is a sci-fi action film and, in my opinion, it's a good one. I just wish they'd used an original villain and left out the stuff from the previous film (especially the Spock moment near the end as I said).

I did read your review and, while I don't agree with everything you said, I understand some of your points. However, if you accept it an action-thriller, you have to accept the things that come with that like plot-holes and inconsistencies.

Oh well, as I said, I like this crew, and I now know there WILL be another sequel. I just hope it's an all-original story this time...RetroKingSimonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05609689348601442117noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5455082771543433548.post-9703440337854595132014-02-09T07:43:13.377+00:002014-02-09T07:43:13.377+00:00Wow that is generous ;) you know how I feel I thin...Wow that is generous ;) you know how I feel I think by my account...I really disliked it haha. I think the fact its become an action film franchise rather than actual Star Trek is what bothers me the most, can't get over that.

I'm not even gonna go into all the plot holes and nonsensical stuff, its all in the review.Hubbshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04897344651758083589noreply@blogger.com
