I'm not sure in how many numbers though. Would it be too expensive for you to import one?RetroKingSimonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05609689348601442117noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5455082771543433548.post-26155983703124503252011-06-23T12:15:14.783+01:002011-06-23T12:15:14.783+01:00Never seen an Atari 2600 in Japan. I think Atari released one of its later consoles here (5800 maybe) but not the 2600.Seanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13681778110046124243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5455082771543433548.post-26309358710009569762011-06-23T10:06:50.758+01:002011-06-23T10:06:50.758+01:00Thanks Edward and Sean! :) I suppose it's inev...Thanks Edward and Sean! :) I suppose it's inevitable that the appeal of retro gaming will be at least partly down to nostalgia, but as this feature proves, many of us genuinely enjoy the games themselves too :)

Regarding Gravitar - at first I thought it was just the solar system part (which reminded me of Star Control) but I was impressed when I discovered you could visit the planets too!

Sean, are 2600's hard to come by in Japan then? I guess it *is* an American console but it seems that everything except Famicoms are rare over there! :PRetroKingSimonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05609689348601442117noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5455082771543433548.post-4892805401013545142011-06-23T07:49:29.978+01:002011-06-23T07:49:29.978+01:00Interesting post. Nostalgia only?

I think it is partly nostalgia, partly the fact that good games are good games regardless of their age and part "something else". I know that something else exists, but I can't quite put my finger on what it is yet.

Anyway, once again you have me wanting to go get an Atari 2600. If I ever move back to North America, that is what I'll be after!Seanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13681778110046124243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5455082771543433548.post-12623773894552366062011-06-22T20:06:27.852+01:002011-06-22T20:06:27.852+01:00Planet Patrol is one of my favorite 2600 games. Gravitar can be frustrating, but it's a great technical achievement.
I enjoyed your takes on the nostalgia factor, I guess that's how most of us retro gamers think.Edwardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17491361099947592597noreply@blogger.com
