Sabbatical or Retirement?

It seems like forever ago but I started this blog almost exactly ten years ago now. As I've probably mentioned here at some point during that time, it was my wife's idea. She doesn't like videogames much, you see, and was fed up with me burbling on about them. I don't remember doing it that much but she suggested I start this blog anyway, and get my gaming fix that way instead of bothering her.

So that's exactly what I did, and it has occupied a sizeable slice of my free time ever since. In all that time, I have posted something at least once every calendar month, usually many times, but that's until now. As the few regular visitors here may have noticed, it has now been over three months since I've posted anything. That doesn't mean I have fallen victim to a certain virus pandemic that's doing the rounds, I'm happy to say, but it has been a cause of concern for me nonetheless.

I have been on a near-three week holiday during this period, from which I was lucky to get back home on time in fact, but the main reason behind my lack of action here is a mystery to me. I've been through dry spells before where I just didn't feel like writing anything, but never for anywhere near this long. Whatever the reason, this has of course prompted me to reevaluate the situation.

I have considered starting a new blog or blogs (one for games, one for films) which would feature more frequent, much smaller posts (one or maximum two paragraphs) and would pretty much serve like online logs of stuff I've played and watched rather than featuring detailed reviews and suchlike. I even started making two possible replacements at one point. I have also given considerable thought to retiring the page altogether and simply not writing anything anywhere.

But of course, I keep thinking of things I want to post about here too, and it seems a waste to abolish my ten years of work in favour of a new blog with a new format, so I guess, as is usually my conclusion when I think about this subject, I will continue trudging on with Red Parsley for now. Which I guess also makes this post pointless, but I had to post something after this long period of silence.

In closing, if you read all of this, aside from knowing I still exist you probably didn't learn a great deal, and certainly nothing of interest. Nonetheless, you can probably expect to (eventually) see some new posts here, and I will try to make shorter, more frequent posts too. Just don't hold your breath! Hope you are all doing okay and keeping safe in these unique circumstances :)

    1. Thanks Edward, I appreciate it. There seems to be very little point in continuing but, no matter what I do, I still keep thinking about things I want to post here! I'll see how it goes for now I guess :)
